Hazelton, Kansas | Terry,
We all know batteries can blow up, and a fault inside the case is a good way to do it. So be careful.
I once twisted a terminal, blew the top off the battery and gave myself a splatter of acid in the face. Hydrogen has a very wide range of mixtures at which it can explode. It also has a very high flame speed that gives it a unique, sharp crack.
I would encourage you to replace it ASAP. Also, you might want to remove the cable from the GOOD terminal first, to cut the chance of sparking inside the case.
Regards.
