E ND | Keep in mind that skid steers are rated by pulling straight down on a chain mounted in the bottom center of a dirt bucket, some of them are actually rated with a "foundry bucket" which has an even shorter floor. They're rated at half of the weight that makes them tip. Once you put the forks on and grab a tote with a 24" load center instead of a 12" load center your 2,500lb rated capacity becomes about your max lift capacity and they'll be right on the edge.
As a rule, rubber tire skid steer loaders get tippy with forks on at their rated capacity, track machines start to run out of hydraulic power at their (higher) rated capacities.
Some of the machines are less affected by the fork application than others. Super Boom style machines (JD/NH) actually pull back as they lift off the ground where the Cat/Bobcat/etc. lift up and away from the machine. | |
