| With all the failures I have had it usually a hook that failed or where the chain was wrapped around something, wrapping a chain makes for a weak point on a link or two.
I now have a heavy ring on the end of the chain and the other end has a large "C" hook the ring end I hook to the tractor and on the implement I have a large screw shackle that I attach to hitch on the implement and then hook the chain hook to this, thus the chain makes no sharp bends, also allows for multiple chains to be connected safety.
I only use 1/2 and 5/8 G120 USA made chains and attaching components.
I have pulled out a lot of stuff with the 1/2 chain, and a quad trac, the 5/8 is so darn heavy almost takes two guys to move it around, good quality chain/attaching components and common sense goes a long, long ways towards staying safe.
