I’ve broken enough chains pulling equipment, and they come back at you like a whip, not a fun feeling for whoever it’s headed towards. 3/8” is pickup or smaller stuff, 1/2” minimum for larger equipment and they will still break. Put a tire or heavy rope around the chain, that will pull it to the ground.
