Subject: RE: Drilled and slotted brake rotors

Pilot Grove, Missouri
I have had 2 vehicles that the rotors warped on. Both were vehicles that I drove quite a bit and the rotors did not warp until my teenage boys started to drive. Each boy warped the rotors on one of the vehicles. When teaching them to drive, I tried to explain to them that following another car close enough that you have to hit the brakes, every time the other driver lifts his foot off the accelerator is hard on the brakes (gets them heated up and warps the rotors, not to mention pad wear) and not good for fuel mileage. They didn't listen. The current run around car I drive has about 120,000 miles on the front brake pads and 235,000 on the rear shoes. Mostly short drives of 10-20 miles at a time. If you think ahead a little and don't follow so close, brakes will last a long time. Patrick
