I will stand behind my comment of checking calving cows once a week is insanity. While on vacation in Arizona we rented UTV’s and went riding in the desert and on into the mountains. Lots of Corriente type cows and calves running out. One could tell they were on their own. For every 20 pairs running one would we a dead dried up carcass along the trail. I upset me. Lots of people on those trails....Not the image we need or want.
A few years ago we went dirt biking along the Missouri River......every calf had pinkeye! It was also an embarrassment of our industry....in the public eye even! I did come unglued and made a few comments when we loaded our dirt bikes. I will never go back! | |
