In our wash bay we went all the way to just under the overhead door,melted all ice and snow by the door ,was a great thing,by accident or poor engineering(that looks good type),Seems it melted out to the last of the slab.Others we have done are quite close for above reasons.One we did without insulation in a greenhouse floor(was poo pooed here)has been functioning fabulous,kept that a good foot from wall.
