Southeast Colorado
There is actually pretty good potential overall on the wheat crop as of today. The problem comes from my 40 year education of farming in this area. When we have a good moisture profile and wheat looks like it does today...............you can pretty much bank on an above average crop. When you have one foot of moisture today..................well, the odds are against you. If we have an above average spring then the crop can be good. But an average spring will have wheat burning up pretty bad here before May 1st. Place your bets folks. And I'm talking most of Eastern CO and Western KS.
