South Central MN | I have the SDI wet/dry in my 4 year old barn. No auxiliary water. They are the only ones I've had so I can't really compare them to anything else. Build quality is pretty good I think. The adjustment handles sometimes bend a bit but are easy to fix. I had to reseal about 15 of the water nipples right away because they either didn't tighten them down enough or installed them incorrectly.
My biggest complaint is that the feed trays get gummed up easily, especially with small pigs when you have the tray set tight. I don't know if this is an issue with all wet/dry or if it particular to this design. Little pigs (30-60#) tend to step in the wet bunk underneath the feed tray and then put their feet up on the tray when eating and get it all wet. It doesn't take much to clear out the blockage, but it is still annoying.
On a related topic, the SDI feed bin boot appears far beefier than the AP boot. I have had the AP boot crack apart at the spot welds, so I'd try the SDI if building again. | |
