That is something that can be hard to answer without a lot of background info

We redid a century old solid brick house but lived in it and did much of the work ourselves.
it took us years and there are still some things that are not completely finished.

We did add an addition after a number of years as family grew or actually replaced a frame addition with new construction

Our decision was based on finances as we were starting out farming with big mortgage and starting out life together and then wth a family.

If we had hired everything done it would have been cheaper to tear down and rebuild BUT our finances were all tied up in starting the farm and a new house mortgage was not a real option as that would come from after tax dollars.

We did do things as correctly as we could at the time with new wiring and insulation that was considered good at that time with last rooms insulated better Rfactor than first rooms.

It is a slow process while living in the house and takes a couple on the same 'program' to put up with it.

This would be a shop/farm storage building. With good concrete floor.
