Reno Co KS | I'm a salary captain on a fire department. If I work an extra shift I get EDP, extra duty pay. It's a number pulled out of the air and taxed at 47% ish. Considered a bonus. I typically make less than lieutenants and senior firefighters. So I don't do it alot. Now, I can't be mandatoried to work either like the others. Currently there's a lot of legal questions on if captains and batt chiefs are actually "management ". Can't hire, fire, transfer, promote etc. Just a fyi.
