I hope it pans out for Kevin. I don’t know what long term outlook is currently, but short term doesn’t look great for feeders.
I'm a little more optimistic. I think with less animals to slaughter over the next few years the price of fats will be well supported.
Is that price sustainable though? Barley is $6.75 here, that’s a local buyer.
He grows a large chunk of his own feed so he's self insuring his operation. With his expansion he will have to source a lot more feed tho. I can't remember but does he not have someone or some company backing him on this feedlot?
