Am I the only one on here that thinks that if you feel the need to try to insure up to 90-95% for a whorehouse cost you need to look somewhere else to save that money and start to use that money to build a self insurance fund? I can't self insure, I am not that far away. But holy cow, if the availability of foresight was around I would be 95%+ ahead by not having any crop insurance the last 20+ years. 2019 was the only year I netted a gain (PP). I have run under the assumption if you try to insure your self out of a loss, you insure your self out of a nice win with the extra costs. But then again I live in BFE where we don't get the highest subsidies either.
Yup, and coming from an insurance guy. ( not crop insurance) I always felt the 75% level was the sweet spot for me when I was farming, and 3 hundred bucks worth of Companion hail gave me plenty of coverage to hold my equity together for under 10 bucks an acre on corn, enterprise units.
