SW Wisconsin
I suspect they're after any grass that may be left from last year. Calving was supposed to start March 1st, these are the heifers that the bull got out with that have calved. They had half a bale of nice alfalfa in the ring, and I took this picture as I pulled in with a fresh batch of corn silage. They'll sometimes eat snow for water, but they're less than 100 yards from a working waterer in this picture. I divided the field I want to renovate this year about 1/3-2/3, last fall and now the dry cows are on the 2/3 and these girls are on the 1/3. I guess they spent the winter looking over the fence at what little grass was left, and they just couldn't wait to taste it.
