The best time to plant beans is the window in which they will emerge without significant replant. I've replanted enough beans over the past 20+ years to have learned that the hard way, and no, throwing 15 bucks an acre at seed treatment makes zero difference in tight clay. Also, rain in August during pod growth and filling trumps everything. The two highest farm averages I've had have both been early June planted and I've seen consistent mid 80s irrigated beans planted in early June, on some pretty tough ground.
