In Rapid City there is a nice free park called Storybook Island for young kids to wear off some energy. At Mt Rushmore, there is a nice lighting ceremony at dusk. Wall Drug is kinda a tourist trap, but still a fun stop. The Badlands is a interesting place to run some energy off of teenagers. Devil's Tower is amazing. There is a loop about 2 miles to walk around the base. Cody is a great town. There is a fantastic museum (can't remember the name off hand). There is a very good rodeo most nights. Yellowstone is amazing. Make sure you have your fuel tank full before you get into the park. The distances are further than you think. The last couple of times we were in the park, it was hard for me to enjoy it. Once I realized that the park is situated over the dome of a active volcano that erupts on average every 300000 years and its been 600000 years since it"s last eruption.... and everywhere there are signs telling about the unusual sisemic activity, it was hard to enjoy it.
