Central Alberta | I made some a few years ago using box elder sap. It had a nicer flavor than regular maple syrup. More like butterscotch.
Drilled holes about halfway into the tree, and then I drove in hosebarb fittings. Took some plastic bottles and popped them on the hosebarbs.
Collected the sap, and boiled it on the stove until it was a thick syrup. I drove wood plugs into the holes afterwards. | |
