..I'd stay with the standard in silt loam...but move to the knife cut in sand. All the clay loams get the standard here.
...Edit to add:.....This also depends on the slope of your tile ditch. A tile that lets a little loam in won't plug if the slope is such that the water speed will keep it washed clean.
