Eastern NE KS | You are right, Russ.
And I forgot that this year during our cold snap. Calf was born at 9p. Had not nursed mom at 11p so I decided to help. Worked with him for 2 more hours. Did not get him to nurse a bottle so my pet technique broke down and I tubed him. Next morning I realize he needs to warm up. Into the pickup he goes for couple hours. Take him back to mom, he's looking to nurse. Help him latch once and he is golden.
He needed warm and dry 1st. Then try to nurse mom. My bet is I would have saved the $30 bag of replacer and no need to tube (much lower risk).
I just could not believe he was that cold that quick. | |
