| Over night, no water or feed in cell but I process course prairie hay for bedding. It gives a new expectant heifer something to eat if she wants and is a little more absorbant than straw.
I have used grain mix to busy a heifer while helping a calf get started nursing. I like knowing the calf is suckling before leaving and try to achieve this in her cell. If the heifer won't stand, we move to the chute. | |
