Had a neighbor take down a bin and I bought 3 rings to use as wind breaks around the barn. They work good mounted to poles in the ground. Wondering if they would be heavy enough to use as freestanding panels? Would like to go with 8ft wide feet, 1' of the ground for the first panel, then a 3" gap, then a second panel on top. Would that be to much surface to weight ratio to hold in place?

Your panels would work most effectively at a 20% porosity.

What you're suggesting is quite a bit less than 20% porosity.
One panel high will stand - - - 2 high is asking to get blown over in strong winds.
