Pelleted lime will typically equal about twice it's weight in ag lime in the first year. Lime sludge will do the same thing, water treatment lime, beet lime, paper mill lime are all a fine chemical lime sludge, as far as I know, and are essentially immediately available. Do the math, and you'll see that ag lime is a better value if you can spread it.


Then why not just buy twice as much real lime? For the cost of pellets it will be cheaper
