I wish he would chime in on this but I believe near the end it is a big play between the commercials and funds. I know several traders that hit that bear spread hard when given the chance, I have tagged along before and will look for an opportunity this summer. Looking at the chart above should give a good clue
Usually what happens with Sep corn @ end of Aug, is futures will decline, basis will widen. DP folks will get screwed and then when calendar changes to Sep both futures and basis will improve. |
