Hilltop,
  I agree pretty closely.  May I make my usual plug for Thorium nuclear power?  That said, I've long believed nuclear should be the first choice of base load provider.  Add natural gas turbines for supplemental power in places where it makes sense.  After that, if green/renewable/whatever power is needed, let the market so provide.  
  Our main problem, as usual, is the federal government (bureaucrats, politicians) selecting winners that sound good but unfortunately don't work.  But that's just me.  Stetts
