Wisconsin | I don't know why he said level it for irrigation even though he's not planning to irrigate, I assume. Leveling for irrigation, and leveling for drainage are two entirely different things. For drainage, I don't think you'd want to eliminate the ditches, maybe just make them farmable, so they're still functional when you get record rainfall. Then smoothing to eliminate pools with as little dirt movement as possible.
There's software out there to design and control the equipment doing this. Just have to find a guy that does that work, or wing it with your own equipment. No way to say what it would take per acre, but I bet it will be a lot less than irrigation leveling the same field. | |
