E. Kansas
I'd stop at Vista in Manhattan too.

Another great food place in Manhattan, though not a restaurant, was Swannie's. I think they're long gone by now. Back in the day, lots of "donut runs" were made there by college kids in Manhattan in the evening/night hours to get freshly made donuts.

Probably another place not around anymore, but The Blue Heron in Lac du Flambeau, WI was a good place when I was there a long time ago, and I don't care much for seafood either. I've been to several good eating places across WI and eastern MN that were quite "humble" looking on the outside but had really good food. Was always with friends who had been through there a lot and I have to give them the credit for stopping.

I used to be in Elko, NV a lot for my job at the time, and I always liked the Basque Restaurant at The Star Hotel. If you left there hungry, it was your own fault. Homemade and served family style, all you can eat. There used to be other Basque restaurants in Elko too.
