ESW ND | Does Texas windmill power actually stay instate? In ND, our windmill power goes out of state, to MN I believe. It takes precedence over any other source. They sell X amount. When the wind blows the coal plants throttle back on production. Then when the wind don't blow, the coal plants have to fire production back up. Anybody who knows coal, knows that you just don't full throttle a coal plant to produce. You have to ease into it. When this up down, up down process continues. They end up having to replace the really expensive pumps. From what I was told, around $500k, plus takes time to replace. | |
