Subject: 1950 - 1955 Ford Tractor

I recently inherited a Ford Tractor. It has been setting several years. It was bought new sometime in the early 50's, by my grandfather and has been in the family sense then. Everyone has passed on so I can't find out which model it is. It is equipped with a diesel engine, 5 speed trans. with a vertical neutral , power steering , three point hitch, remote outlets, 2 stage clutch, 12 volt charging system ( which may have been converted from a 6 volt, I am not sure). It also has a rubber double spring seat. The springs need to be replaced, where can I get them. This tractor is wired negative ground is that correct?

From this info. can you tell me the model number. Also where is the serial number.. The spot where I thought the serial would be has worn or chipped away. I think its a 861. Thanks, www.greendrills.com
