We have been planting some things for several years in old poly cattle troughs. Usually lettuce ,green onions ,, spinach, herbs , etc. Still plant larger plant crops like tomatoes, peppers, green beans in ground with plastic and drip line . Also plant all vine crops in ground with plastic and drip line
