Nebraska | People get by with it but any research I have done suggests implanting breeding stock has a negative effect on reproduction rates. Might be 1% reduction in conception, might be 25%, depending on what implant and your herd's inherent fertility level. Ralgro seems to have some of the least effects compared to others. Implanted heifers will have more abnormal reproductive tracts(misshaped, small, nonsymmetrical) than unimplanted heifers. After custom AIing heifers of various sources and implant statuses-I would not implant heifers that I might possibly breed. | |
