Fontanelle, IA
How do you brand each individual calf on a day to day basis during calving to know which ones are yours? Or, do you roundup on a weekly basis to brand the newborns? With big cow groups that look very similar and using common bulls in AI to get huge sib groups for uniformity at barn/direct to feedlot, how do you tell each calf apart if you need to treat it for sickness say 3 days later follow up treatment? They would look pretty much the same? You could say they look like mine/my type vs your neighbor Do you just use paint stick marks like marking pigs or shoot actual paint balls at them to mark the sick animals that have a standard follow up treatment Rx protocol?
