sc kansas | it only takes 33 british units of nat gas to make a ton of nh3, so it is immaterial to the cost of a ton of fert. liability insurance, transportation and manufacturing profit make up the biggest cost of a ton of nh3. so if nat gas is $4 a british unit it only takes $132 of gas per ton of nh4, last i new natl gas made up about 85% of the cost of nh3. our problem around here is kock industries owns most of the natl gas reserves and also owns the closest nh3 manufacturing plant . | |
