OK, try backdating the software, follow this path , you do not need a USB with software on it for this.
Main Menu > Message Center > Button A Reprogram > select the Display > select reprogram device > drop down the menu, you should see the previous software that was on the display, select it and reprogram, this may bring back the check box you are missing if it is related to the newer version.
