Then John deere is over a decade behind. Caterpillar has been putting electric drivetrains in mining trucks since at least 2007. Undoubtedly it goes back further than that but my hire in date for caterpillar was the fall of 2007. Diesel electric hybrids have been around for decades in locomotives.

Will we see full electric tractors anytime soon?? No, but we will see diesel electric hybrids in agriculture within a decade. It is the logical direction and meets the needs. It offers infinite ground speed adjustments similar to the CVT transmission offering more efficiency. Its proven techology that can be readily adapted and scaled.
