E SD | From what I hear from Deere engineers is that high torque constant load is hard on electric. Mechanical has the advantage, mechanical is also cheaper.
Take a Deere combine, they could easily power all different points of the machine via motors and reduce mechanical linkage. It would take very large motors to handle the constant load and the expense would be significantly higher than its mechanical counterpart. It’s being thought of, but cost is a component. | |
