In my mind I would think soil temperature and soil moisture would have a lot to do with it, and that varies a lot year to year, making it very hard to predict an easy number that would repeat every year?
You might be a little too dry some falls to do much mineralization, I might be way too saturated some summers to have much soil activity going on?
Is my thinking logical enough on this, or am I out in left field?
Correct. If you don't have sensors to monitor root depth, moisture, temperature and soil test to root depth, models and rules of thumb could be off easily 100-200 lbs of n. |
