My BIL, has diabetes, not insulin yet but metformin and he says a bunch other pills.Goes yesterday to his doctor whom asks of his food plan,BIL says no starch and eats a hardboiled egg or two with coffee for breakfast..The doctor said you should be eating carbs, potatoes, bread and do not eat eggs,,,,WTF,my BIL said he gave him some articles to read and now his head is confused ,,,any one else heard this?It seems illogical unless tied to the meds?
The doctors a bit behind but that’s actually pretty standard recommendation.
Cutting carbs with metformin isn’t dangerous but doing so with other diabetic meds can kill you rapidly.
Basically the cycle goes ate too many carbs need meds. Fear of hypoglycemia so eat too many. Over time you get more resistant, fatter, bsiccker. So more meds added.
The goal seems to be to turn type ones into also being type two and type twos into also type one.
The theory is eat up, just cover it with insulin.
If your BIL doesn’t have a good doc try Virta Health. |
