South Central Kansas, Harper County | Most people probably think of Kansas being primarily a wheat state, but in my area of Kansas there is considerable cotton planted. There are 3 gins in our general area, one 13 miles away. Like was mentioned earlier about 65* soil temps, seems anywhere from May 12-15 is generally when we start. Some around have it in the ground the first week of May, but Ive never been that fortunate to get it in at that time, and satisfied. We will plant up into the 1st week of June, then normally change plans. We can easily get into Milo or Soybeans at that time. We do have to watch what chemicals we apply, to maintain that flexibility.
