Is this upstream of Medford? Looks like there are Coker and Carney clays in that area with 50-60% clay content. Relatively shallow with bedrock possibly 3-4 ft down. Carney soil appears to have significant shrink-swell with cracks. Both are vertisols and have poor internal drainage.

USDA suggests most land is in pasture or orchards.

Midwest folks - this appears similar to Missouri River bottom clays, like Luton or Wabash, or for those in the MS Delta, Sharkey or Alligator. Probably has similarities to Houston Black around Waco, TX.
