Subject: Fall spray after harvest

East Central Arkansas

This is on ground we had in soybeans. The early part of November we sprayed 1 qt of LV 6 2,4D without any other products other than some surfactant. I didn't want completely clean ground laying through the winter and I knew this would leave a good crop of poa anna for ground cover. It didn't do as good of job on the henbit , chickweed and some other broadleaves as I thought it would. I do know that with the kind of winter weather we have with periods of warm wet weather we will have those cool season weeds coming up all winter. I have walked the fields some doing some scouting but it seems it's always easy to miss seeing some winter weeds especially when they are just scattered in with the other ground cover that is growing. I haven't noticed any marestail yet but it is one weed that concerns me in choosing which early burndown mix I will use. How much good did the fall 2,4D do in controlling this weed?
