Every enduser know his inventory, his usage, and the price point of available supplies. Whether it someone like me as a corn /soy user, who aggressively moves harvest weight to the low end of the matrix,.. extending the time it takes to consume inventory, or an e-plant that has a to-do list of maintenance that they decide to take 2 month down instead of 4-5 weeks.
High prices ration usage. Too high of prices destroy demand. i am not going to be holding the bag on corn that i have now, that has gone from 3.xx to 5.xx when new crop becomes available and price is likely to become less than today (the inverse). Someone else that is greedy or just doesn't need the money can own the carryover.
If the growing season doesn't go well.. which is possible, re-evaluation will be constant. Price should encourage all available acres to be planted to something, then end users will contemplate stretching supplies even tighter, or having more downtime if growing season prospects are unfavorable. These are the the kind of well thought out and sensible posts that make market talk meaningful from time to time..... whether you agree or disagree, he makes a well versed statement. Good job, Pig. |
