I'm glad you mentioned this. I have watched a neighbor plant 20" corn and then the next year no-till 20" beans
down the center of the previous years corn rows. Gets to use row cleaners that way too.

I've often thought 2-40" bulks on a 60' corn planter wouldn't be the end all to corn yield. And a tracked tractor could have 18", 20" or I suppose 25" belts to side dress with and use bigger tires on sprayer than the common pizza cutter sizes.

Maybe the wider tracks/bigger tires on the sprayer would mop so much out on the ends turning it wouldn't be worth it.
