define Own -- debt free or simply having your name on it with a 15K mortgage?

No kidding. I will admit, the worse decision I made at a younger age, was to wait till I was more comfortable purchasing land. To have 10-15 years under my belt building equity and paying down a farm that cost about 60-70% of what one cost now would be really helpful to my balance sheet and my confidence right now when trying to buy another farm... that being said, if I was a banker, I wouldn’t have given 23 year old me a 1/2 million dollar loan back then.
