Sounds like it'll be more complicated. The way dosatrons work is this: Water (or other carrier) is pushed through the Dosatron creating a piston pump/siphoning action to meter the fertilizer/chemical into that stream. He'd need 2 tanks. 1 for the carrier and 1 for the added fertilizer. There are a lot of dosatron models and they all work off of different pressure and flow ratings. You'd have to size your pump for the carrier for the flow you want which would be based off the speed you drive. Sounds like a disaster.

The only scenario that I could see a dosatron being utilized on a planter already set up with a standard starter system and you'd like to plumb in a dosatron for a low volume insecticide or a growth regular that you dont want on the whole field. Could be interesting for strip trials where you can by pass the dosatron when you dont want the product on.

So a dosatron cannot be used to lets say pump 5 gallon of starter per acre from a 400 gallon tank?? As a stand alone system??

Thanks
