WC Iowa | We did a randomized and replicated trial using 36 inch rows with a 72 inch corridor. We planted soybeans in the corridor. The high population corn yielded 21.7 % less than the regular planted rows. The soybeans yielded 12 bushels per acre. We were in a severe drought area so I don't know how much the results mean. My hunch is that the high population rows are more dependent on excellent high organic matter high fertility soils and dependable rainfall.
My question is if you know of any trials comparing the skip row system on excellent soils vs. average soils. | |
