If you are feeding your own corn you do not need to lock in your feed costs it your cop...then its just spec play..
Interesting you are not looking to hedge the cattle...first... no guarartee the corn you gonna use will be more then than now. Seems you got the bull-iti-tus why double your risk if spec buy calls and it doesnt pay and then cattle goes down..doesnt make sense to me. GL


If you are buying corn that would be different..

A move of +$5 on the cash cattle side will make up for the $ 1 move on the corn side for a 1400 steer.
