If you are using it there is nothing to “protect” other than the sell value of the cattle. You are feeding them at your cost and the goal is for the cattle to increase the value. Its only speculation buying something you dont have anymore. (Ie 1/5)

So the better ? Should you be feeding cattle when corn is 5.50? What price do you need to sell your cattle for to make up the corn price? If you get it hedge the cattle..

Bottom line dont worry about it... or get out of cattle and sell the corn..but my guess you like feeding cattle.
