Joel,
Our lab never recommends over a ton rate per application. Our sweet spot for corn around here is around 6 to 6.5. We farm numerous soil types, but the ones mentioned here are red clay poplar forest type soils. Cec is in the 14.0 range. We have trouble with these soils maintaining available phosphorous levels.
