A neighbor raises a couple heritage hogs for fun on 5 acres. He mentioned barley would change the color of the lard on his old breed hogs, keeps it whiter.
There was some of that done here (with regular confinement hogs) in ND 20 years ago. As corn came in to the State, barley just couldn't compete.
Anyone planting barley for grain not malting?
