Subject: RE: AMS on soybeans

Near Richmond, IN

I looked up my costs on applying AMS to my soybeans. It cost me $22.75/ac to have 100# spread on the beans.  I sold soybeans that fall for 7.85 dry, less any moisture discount.  So at 3 bu/ac gain at $7.85 I could possibly gain $23.55/ac by using AMS.   If $1/ac can pay for a draper head on about 300 acres ave. per year, they're cheaper than I realized.  If they gained 4bu/ ac that profit jumps to $8.65/ac   So now I could have an extra $2500/yr to spend on a new draper head!!!  So unless I'm missing something here it would take me 20+ years to pay for one and I'd be in my 90's.  Sounds like a plan!!!  I know prices have changed but no one could tell me at that time that I would be able to get $10-13/bu in the future or how long prices will stay that high.
